Fantastic paintwork and weathering Kev, well done. U822 in Das Boot has it's tiger stripes hand painted so they have a hard edge, I don't know if it's artistic license or not, plus at one point it's attacked by a Sunderland so there's an idea for your diorama.

Right then.  As I mentioned earlier, I have one of these which I started on one of our Sunday play days and it is now on my bench waiting to be continued.

Kev, I have a question about the etched brass railings around the conning tower gun deck (if that's the correct terminology?).  Did you put them on as 2 separate halves or  did you join them together first, roll them and then fix in place?

How would you do it Haddock?

Best ask Kevin. All I can say is don't be too ambitious.

Hi Wizzel,
Thanks for the enquiry.
For me, I made up each halve of the Conning Tower Railings, and made them fit with test fitting numerous minor adjustments.
I think joining before the two halves before attempting bending might be a bit too ambitious.
Like Haddock says, don't try to be too ambitious.
It's better to have a good result, and then learn from the good result, to have an even better result next time.
Cheers,
Bigkev

Thanks both.  I've started to get the brass on now but I'm making a bit of a mess of it!  Glue everywhere, but at least I've not lost any brass yet!!

Well Wizzel,
That is one house point to you.
I tend to lose something when working with Brass!!
Persevere my friend, it will all come good with a little practice and patience.
Keep us posted.
As a hint, I did remember drilling some fine pilot holes for the railing stanchions to locate into better.
Keep going, you will get there.
Cheers,
Bigkev
