USEFUL BOOKS
« on: March 29, 2016, 12:29:35 PM »
This is a new section on the web site for anybody to place information about books they have read and think might be of interest to other club members ( NO Wizzel we don't need to know about 50 Shades of Grey -- thank you very much. ) You can follow the format below or just place the information in any way you like.
I hope this will be a help to club members, if not it will gradually wither and die, so use it or lose it.

Title             A History of the Royal Navy in World War One
Author         Mike Farquarson-Roberts
ISBN            978-1-78076-838-0
Publisher     I.B.Taris in association with National Museum of the Royal Navy
Cost            RRP £20 - Amazon £16.55  Beverley library FREE

An excellent balanced book about the navy in WW1, well written and illustrated. Mainly a historical book but several unusual illustrations could prompt ideas for models. Such as what looks like a ship's 3inch gun mounted on a girder platform to turn it into an anti-aircraft gun and a Felixstowe flying boat landed on the water using a hydrophone.

Modelling rating     2 out of 5
History rating         5 out of 5
