Next project - as well as also finishing some ships that have been in harbour for much tooooooo long
Always had this building in the back of my mind since seeing it, thought it would make a good model. 
Got the Zvezda set of modern Russian Infantry at Mighty Lancer last visit and first idea was to do a box diorama of the 1/35 scale figures stood on the steps and the building in the background with some 1/72 figures to show scale in the distance.  Then remembered the photo on page 182 of Russia At War 1941/45 by Vladimir Karpov and thought it could be done as a double sided model with World War Two on one side and 2014 figures on the other side..Will rough them out and see what goes, might even get some more figures and do both 

Decided to have a go at some of these models that I have seen in the magazines several times.
Chose "Anya & Laika" and a second one  ""Sniper Stalker" - have decide to start with the first one (see photo of the parts delivered) and will place this in a post apocalypse  scene - so on with the cleaning up of the first figure and her dog

For the April competition have decided the background story to this model and how to go about making it ( Neil thinks the background story is strange and wonders what I will do to one of his beloved Spitfires - hohohho)
First coat of humbrol aluminium on the body parts - when dry will add some chipping medium and the camouflage colours to the bits, then remove most of them - then its on with the build 
If anybody has a spare decal/transfer of 1/72 scale roundels and the letters "U and F" and the number "2" please let me know.

Dug this out of the loft to do on the next playday on Sunday. 
It is the Russian aircraft carrier Minsk, commissioned in 1978 and discarded in 1992. It is an Aoshima model - no idea when or where I got it but its been waiting for quite some time to be started, next job is to find if I have any 1/700 scale rails in the stash
